I wanted to talk a little bit about prosperity magick. I know that this is topic I have touched on before but with we are going to a bit more in depth this month. #MagickMonday’s will be devoted to prosperity magick for the month of August. My friend and fellow magician Kiki Wanderer suggested the topic for this month and I think it is quite a good one. So lets explore it shall we?
We tend to have different expectations of magick when it comes to physical manifestation or money workings than we do in other instances.
For example one typically casts a spell or performs a working with specific intent or for a specific reason like. Examples of this could be, to gain insight or clarity, to find love , to find a new job, to bind something’s negative effects, to appeasing a god or goddess of your pantheon for general favor. Any number of reasons really, all depending on the specific magician or witches personal will. Most practitioners tend to agree that specific intent is important in a successful working. Many ritual practices are devoted to simply channeling intent into will.
A simplistic version of this process might be that the intent is the “mind” version of the working. The thoughts of your mind that you are about to manifest with magick. I tend to think of will as what we harness to cause the intent to manifest. Intent is the desire to do. Will causes the intent to come to fruition.
I also recognize magick as a subtle art form. Casting your strands into the dancing pattern and then manipulating your effect and presence to change the pattern direct. In my personal experience, even with surprisingly immediate or direct manifestations of will I have found that it rarely comes about in ways that I expected. Let me be clear as to that which I am discussing is specific to casting or intent magick and not in the realm of glamour magick or people magick. These things differ in that the magician uses the most direct route, his or hers physical self, to manifest their intent.
In magick we are like fishermen casting nets into the sea. He performs the physical rituals of his vessel and uses both intuition and signs from nature to place himself in the best position he can see to catch the fish he needs. He throws the net overboard, applying his will to his intent. He catches many fish and can return home happy with the spoils of his results. We do the same in magick just with very different nets.
Remember when I said that we often approach money magick differently than other magicks? Okay I am getting back to that now lol.
More often than not when it comes to a working for wealth or prosperity we tend to already have a specific vision in our minds. For example cruising down the ocean shore in a beautiful expensive car to that waterfront beach house. Or hopping on a plane and traveling the world at whim. No matter what the vision might be, it is in our minds as it was planted there by our desire and lust for results. We step into the working quite often already undone by our own minds.
The other common practice I see in regards to prosperity magick is that we often already have in mind how it will manifest. Win the lottery or get a raise at the job you currently have, find a one hundred dollar bill on the ground or make a certain deal go through. By narrowing the path of manifestation you are no longer the fisherman casting a net. You are now hunting a specific fish, and if you are not careful you might end up chasing a white whale.
When we cast our nets we are open to a variety of paths of manifestation. We are going to catch fish, but they might not all be the same fish. Sometimes we will catch something completely unexpected. At the end of the day however, if our intent was to catch fish we have accomplished this. If our intent was to catch one specific fish we probably have years of hunting to do.
Sometimes we are just not taking the most effective approach to achieve our goals. If you have a specific intent it is almost always more effective to utilize direct magick. To use your own physical self to manifest your intent. From glamour to discipline practices this sort of direct magick can better manifest intent to a specific goal.
As wise witch Whimsy once said to me “Open the most obvious door.”
Use your nets to catch a variety of new fish. Use these sorts of workings and ritual to open doors you otherwise cannot see. They also help keep you open to recognizing new opportunities as well as the foresight to take them.
Most people for most of their lives keep doing the same thing they have always done. Habit and familiarity are double edged swords in that they can keep us more secure in waters we know, but it also limits us to the same horizons. Pragmatism is important. I find it to be far more conducive to general prosperity to combine both direct magick and ritual workings that “cast nets”. Remember that if you intent is prosperity or wealth these things are vast and broad and inherently subjective concepts. Coming at it from multiple angles in your practice is then the application of will.
The meta-ritual of life is one hell of a drug.
