I am so excited to be taking this tarot journey with you! It has been a long time since I have done a purposeful study and exploration of the cards and I’m definitely itching for some immersion! In addition to doing a study of each individual card we will go over some fun things such as techniques, layouts, theory, and different applications to this diverse and powerful system.
I picked up my first deck of tarot cards when I was thirteen years old. I bought them at a small metaphysical shop down the street from my house. It was a very cheap deck, nondescript. I don’t even think they were laminated, the flimsy card stock they had been printed on bent and tore easily. The cards themselves didn’t survive me long, but the small paper booklet that came with them was a wealth of knowledge. I poured over that booklet until I knew the card meanings inside and out. The second deck I owned is the one I often consider my “first”. It is the first deck I used ritualistically and seriously and it is the first deck that I ever gave readings to others with. This deck, “The Gill Tarot” feels like home to me. I purchased it in Harvard Square, Cambridge about 17 years ago and again immersed myself in exploration.
Throughout the years I have again and again come back to exploring the tarot and each time I learn something new. Well the ouroboros has caught me on an upswing this time so I decided to put together this series as we go.
Let us start at the beginning shall we?
This weeks exploration will focus on The Fool card. I also want to go over some beginner tips and lay groundwork for those new to Tarot, as well as discuss some of my personal theory behind the system.
